Porvorim is the legislative capital of the state of Goa, India. It is situated on the right bank of the Mandovi River. Located on the opposite bank is Panaji, the capital of Goa. Porvorim is well connected by roads and is hardly around 4 kilometres panaji with an excellent view of the state capital Panaji from the Mandovi bridge. Officially a village, it provides facilities no short of that of a town or a small city. Porvorim now is particularly a residential area with educational institutions, hospitals, schools, hotels, resturants etc and also just few kilometres from the famous beaches of goa like calangute beach, baga beach and more.
Considered as a suburb of Panaji, Porvorim is considered an upmarket residential hub as it lies on the prime Mumbai–Goa highway NH17. Infrastructure such and highways is developing here at a high pace. The town is slated to get its first mall by 2015.
